Group Executive, M&A and Investments

Geoff Iddison is group executive, e-Commerce. In this capacity, he is responsible for providing overall strategic leadership for global electronic commerce that support all lines of business and for expanding MasterCard’s presence and capabilities in this rapidly evolving and increasingly important channel. He leads the evaluation of consumer and competitive trends in these areas; formulates strategies to anticipate and address new opportunities; and, ensures that MasterCard is positioned to prevent or thwart disintermediation plays from both traditional and emerging forces. Before joining MasterCard, Mr. Iddison was the chief executive officer of Jagex, an online gaming company whose founders created “Runescape,” one of the largest and most popular online pay-to-play games. His prior role was chief executive officer of PayPal Europe, where he took the business into new vertical sectors, such as mobile payments and VoIP. Previously, he held the simultaneous roles of chief executive officer of Butterfields, one of the largest auction houses in the U.S., and vice president/general manager of eBay High-end Business. While at eBay, Mr. Iddison led the design and development of the unique eBay Live Auctions software where offline businesses are integrated into eBay’s online sales formats. Mr. Iddison's background includes additional experience in the auction world as chief operating officer of Christie’s Inc., based in New York, and a similar position with Sotheby’s, based in London. He was founding partner of IPS Ltd, a business specializing in the design and development/supply of tailored systems based on open platform technologies for the publishing industry. His Bachelor of Science degree is from the University of East Anglia and is in Physics and Electronics.
