Gregory Mitchell

President and CEO

Gregory Mitchell is president and CEO of First PacTrust Bancorp (Nasdaq: BANC).  He also serves as a director for the company’s First PacTrust Bank subsidiary. Mr. Mitchell previously served as president and CEO of California National Bank, where he led the company’s growth from a $600 million total asset “wholesale bank” with five offices, to a $7.5 billion community bank serving clients at 68 retail locations in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties.  Mr. Mitchell also served as chairman of Pacific National Bank, located in San Francisco.Prior to joining California National Bank, Mr. Mitchell was a partner with Hovde Financial, where he was responsible for the formation and supervision of its West Coast investment and merchant banking, financial advisory and funds management practices.  Mr. Mitchell also served 10 years with the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), serving as a lead manager in the Management Consignment Program.  He also was the founder of OTS’s Capital Assistance Group, where he facilitated the acquisition or recapitalization of more than 30 community banks without federal assistance. Mr. Mitchell serves on various executive and boards of directors, including the Boy Scouts of America, Operation Hope and Stone Soup Childcare.  He also serves on the advisory boards of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels and the Everychild Foundation.  Mr. Mitchell is a former vice chairman of the March of Dimes and former director of the Children’s Hunger Fund.Mr. Mitchell is a retired commissioned officer with the United States Coast Guard Reserves. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific, a master’s degree in Public Administration from George Washington University, and a post-graduate certificate in commercial banking from Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.
