Roy F. and Jean Humphrey Proffitt Professor of Law

Michael S. Barr is the Roy F. and Jean Humphrey Proffitt Professor of Law at the University of Michigan.� He served from 2009-2010 as the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions, and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Community Development Policy. At Michigan, Barr teaches courses in domestic and international financial regulation. His books include No Slack, Insufficient Funds, and Building Inclusive Financial Systems.� Barr is a frequent media commentator on financial, housing, and economic issues. He currently serves on the advisory boards of Lending Club, ideas42, CFSI’s Financial Solutions Lab, the FDIC Committee on Economic Inclusion, the U.S. Financial Diaries Project.�
