Thomas P. McDermott is Senior Vice President of Cross-Channel Strategy for SunTrust Banks, Inc. In this role, Mr. McDermott is responsible for interpreting client insights to develop strategic planning that drives capital & technology investments providing a consistent experience across all Traditional & In-Store branches, ATM, Phone, IVR ,Online and Mobile channels. He is also responsible for NCBS and Prime Performance Inc, two wholly-owned subsidiaries of SunTrust. He is based in Atlanta. Mr. McDermott joined SunTrust in his current role in November 2009. A 19-year veteran of the financial services industry; he previously was Senior Vice President & Division Executive for Washington Mutual Georgia & New Jersey retail branch network. In this role, Mr. McDermott was responsible for all aspects of the network including; sales, operations, human resources and financial performance. In his prior role with the company, Mr. McDermott was Senior Vice President of Retail Branch Network Optimization where he developed the analytical and strategy framework supporting new branch openings, closings, consolidations and merger /acquisitions activities. He also ran Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, reporting directly to the CFO, responsible for the company financial planning, earning per share forecast, segment reporting, Board of Director reporting and monthly business review process.In 1996, Mr. McDermott joined First Union Corporation as Vice President of Performance Measurement and developed customer profitability, cost accounting measurements and measured marketing direct mail ROI. In other roles, he supported the branch goal setting process and various strategic analyses. He began his banking career with Midlantic National Bank and served in a variety of credit positions, including commercial & real estate credit analyst for their Central Region in New Jersey. Mr. McDermott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Richard Stockton State College of New Jersey.
