Great article Donna,

I totally agree with you on LinkedIn being a platform of choice for advisors when it comes to their overall online marketing initiatives. I have been fortunate enough to meet with hundreds of advisors over the last few years and speak on the topic of social media, and LinkedIn has always been my personal favorite.

To say the least, I find it to be not only a fantastic tool to leverage existing relationships but also one to grow an advisory practice through prospecting (common connections and groups are the tools that come to mind).

Your article couldn't be more timely as LinkedIn finally released their long anticipated iPad app yesterday. For those that haven't had the chance to experience with it already, go and download it from the app store as it's truly a great piece of software.

Thanks again,

Utilizing smart tools for social media sharing can help financial advisors become more efficient and effective with their marketing. In my opinion, tools like Hootsuite simply help manage the distribution process and minimize the hassle of having to log-in and manually post to each network. It's a highly effective tool. Additionally there are other tools that can help you manage the actual timing and scheduling of your social media posts. I'm a big fan of these smart tools and I think the advisors who learn how to integrate them into their marketing strategies will have a competitive advantage with regard to digital marketing.

Also, although LinkedIn is critical, I believe you need to build a comprehensive presence and "be everywhere". LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Of course networks will come and go over time, but having profiles and being active on all the major networks can only help you expand your visibility.

Just my two cents!
