SPAM ALERT!!! Perhaps better and more frequent monitoring is called for since your IT crew appears helpless and clueless. It seems the manager reads this board less frequently than any contributor. WAKE UP!!

I would like to 2nd on the Pop-Up ads. Very annoying. I don't mind clicking off once when I enter, but every page is completely ridiculous.

Re: Spam on the Discussion Board
I cannot believe that FP is so blind that they cannot measure and discern the complete COLLAPSE of views and page clicks since the pop up and the spam fiascos!! If you don't want a discussion board, just close the damn thing. Now FP shares in the disdain, nay disgust, of seekers and contributors here. It's bad enough the editorial priority is millionaire chasing investment articles....about 10 to 1 compared to articles on actual financial planning elements and strategies. This board was the only place the readership could actually discuss PLANNING issues and ignore the opeds and myopic investment perspective. If you can't get control of this site and immediately eliminate BOTH the spam and the pop up insanities, your incompetence and indifference is well demonstrated and the results well deserved. IMO

Re: Spam on the Discussion Board
Hear, Hear, Bradley!
Years ago, this forum was perhaps THE premier site for serious discussions of financial planning-related issues.
Not any more. Not by a long shot. It has descended into its present state through a lethal combination of boneheaded business decisions (such as selling an advertiser the opportunity to alienate every user of the site) and feckless unresponsiveness.
I was a Moderator on this site, back when the site owners cared enough about fostering serious discussion to have developed rules of behavior for those posting here, and to have given us moderators authority to enforce those rules. We didn't tolerate trolls. We didn't need a Community Leader to cut and paste on these forums dozens of articles of questionable relevance to the practice of financial planning. These forums provided useful information, thoughtful discussion, and real support to us,.
FPi management has the opportunity to bring back those days, or, at least, to try. But it will take real management.

Re: Spam on the Discussion Board
John - since there's nobody here but you, me, and the dog.....what discussion sites do you recommend? Been devouring my Wealth Channel issue from American College....now there's some planning issues to sink your teeth into!! FP has followed the FPA and noncoalition right into the asset management camp. Let's all help the same millionaires avoid taxes and manage their anxieties!! While pretending we care about consumer interests and outcomes! It's a pity. The discipline of planning is well regarded and well served by many.....but not so much by those "industry leaders" who put the words financial planning in their titles anymore. Best regards to all you practicing planners applying our discipline on behalf of your clients....don't despair, new leadership with better focus and priorities will arise....the sooner the better.

Re: Spam on the Discussion Board
Bradley,
The only discussion site that I frequent and that I would recommend is www.financialpro.org., the website of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. The 9 discussion forums ("eGroups") on that site are absolutely marvellous. Of course, you have to be a Society member, and to pay for eGroup membership (access to 3 eGroups is included with Society membership).
You might also want to check out the Groups in LinkedIn.

John - I emailed you a request to nominate me to the Society for membership. Hope you get it. We may be the last rats on this sinking ship.
