Barclays Global Investors in San Francisco appointed John Longley as head of national accounts for the U.S. iShares ETF business. Longley arrives at Barclays from Smith Barney and Citi, where he served in several positions for 20 years.

Putnam Investments in Boston named Edmund F. Murphy III managing director and head of defined contribution. Murphy recently served as executive VP of distribution for Personal and Workplace Investing (PWI) at Fidelity Investments in Boston.

Bridget Macaskill was named president of Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers in New York City. Macaskill arrives at ABA from OppenheimerFunds, where she served as chairman and chief executive officer, also in New York City.

Genworth Financial Wealth Management has named Mark Schoenbeck chief marketing officer and John Murray chief information officer of the Richmond, Va.-based company. Schoenbeck previously served as senior vice president of professional development for the company. Murray recently headed his own technology consulting business.
