Huntington Bank Names Director for Wealth Management Division

Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington National Bank has named industry veteran Steven M. Short director of its wealth management division. Short will oversee a team of private bankers and personal trust officers from the bank and licensed investment representatives of The Huntington Investment Company. He will also manage the wealth management offices in the bank’s footprint, which includes about 15 markets in six states across the Midwest, Cynthia Kincaid, a company spokesperson, said. Short will report to Daniel Benhase, director of Huntington’s Wealth, Government Finance and Home Lending division.

Short has 30 years of leadership experience in the wealth management field, according to the bank. Before joining Huntington, Short served for five years as the CEO of UnionBanc Investment Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Union Bank of California. In that role, he had overall responsibility for both institutional and retail brokerage operations as well as Union Bank’s Retirement Solutions Group. He also served as CEO of U.S. Bancorp Investment Services Inc., U.S. Bancorp Insurance Services, and as executive vice president of US Bank. He began his banking career in 1982 in the trust division at Fifth Third Bank, where he worked for 11 years.

“Huntington Wealth Advisors is the cornerstone of our wealth division, and Steve has the combination of sales and management expertise that will strengthen and lead this department into the next phase of growth,” Benhase said in a statement.

The Huntington National Bank is a subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares Inc., a $56 billion regional bank holding company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The bank operates in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, West Virginia and Kentucky.
