Janney Hires UBS Vet

Janney Montgomery Scott has expanded its Raleigh, N.C., office with the addition of a former UBS advisor with $180 million in assets.

The first major hire announced thus far in the year, John Kline joins as vice president/wealth management and will form the Kline Management Group of Janney Montgomery Scott.

Most recently at UBS, Kline has 20 years of industry experience. He began his career at Smith Barney in 1993 and had been with UBS for the past eight years.

“John’s long and accomplished career is proof of his commitment to exceeding the expectations of his clients,” Jerry Lombard, president of the firm’s private client group, said in a statement. “With the wealth of knowledge and experience he brings to our Raleigh office, unquestionably, he is a tremendous addition to the Janney team and to our Southeast region—a region which we believe continues to present a significant opportunity for growth.”

Kline will be joined by his account executive Joshua Brien and registered client assistant Nicole Apen.

Last year, Janney added 33 “top-tier” advisors and has around 730 in total, the firm said. According to Lombard, the firm plans to continue that recruiting momentum into 2013.

“We anticipate welcoming many new advisors of a similar caliber as we look forward to 2013,” he said in a statement.
