Amid the abrupt resignation of CFP Board chairman Alan Goldfarb and allegations of improper disclosure, veteran planner Nancy Kistner takes over leadership of the organization.

Kistner is managing director and wealth planning solutions market director at U.S. Trust, which is part of Bank of America Private Wealth Management in New York.

Before that, she was director and head of financial planning at Citi Private Bank, where she managed a team of financial planning professionals focused on financial, trust and estate planning for high-net-worth individuals. Before that, she was head of financial planning training at MetLife Financial Services.

She currently serves on the board for the Coalition for Debtor Education through Fordham Law School.

Beginning immediately, Kistner's term as CFP chair will run through Dec. 31, 2013.

She replaces Goldfarb who insists he “did not commit any violation” but says he stepped aside because it is his “responsibility to put the interests of the organization ahead of my own.”
