Legacy Wealth Planning announced Wednesday that it hired Mark Elston and his team of financial advisors.

The former group of Well Fargo Advisors brings with them about $185 million in assets.

Elston joins the LPL Financial-affiliated independent wealth management firm and will bring 30 years of experience.

“My decision to become independent not only opens a new door for my team, but also expands the opportunities where we can truly be aligned with our number one priority – our clients,” says Elston, who will join an established group of financial advisors.

The move denotes the growing national trend of financial advisors leaving large wire house firms and going independent. Many of these breakaway advisors strongly consider LPL as their top choice, according to a market research report by Cogent.

“As an independent financial advisor, I have created a home where I have the ability to shape my own business culture and to serve my clients without any conflicts of interest,” says Elston.
