U.S. Bank has appointed Brian Vowinkel regional managing director for Ascent Private Capital Management, a unit of the bank’s wealth management group that serves ultra-high-net-worth clients. Vowinkel will be responsible for driving the growth of Ascent Private Capital Management’s new office in Seattle, which will open this summer, the bank announced.

Vowinkel previously headed his own wealth management firm in Seattle, Ranger Select. Prior to that, he opened the regional office in Seattle for Convergent Wealth Advisors, where he was an equity partner and served as regional managing director. He also previously helped open the Seattle office of Goldman Sachs & Co. for private clients. All together, Vowinkel has more than 13 years’ experience assisting ultra-high-net-worth families with wealth management, according to the bank.

Vowinkel will report to Michael A. Cole, president of Ascent Private Capital Management, and will lead an initial team of seven professionals “responsible for providing ultra-high-net-worth clients with investment management, private banking, wealth impact planning, financial administration and an exceptional client experience in the Pacific Northwest,” the bank said.

“Brian’s depth of experience in investment and wealth management for ultra-high-net-worth families and family-held businesses makes him particularly suited for this role,” Cole said in a statement.

Ascent Private Capital Management helps individuals and families with $25 million or more in investable assets, the bank said.  It is one of three units of U.S. Bank Wealth Management, the 16th largest U.S. wealth manager, according to Barron’s 2011 survey of the “Top 40 Wealth Managers.”
