Altegris Advisors, the portfolio management and research group, introduced on Thursday the Altegris Futures Evolution Strategy Fund, which brings managed futures managers Winton Capital Management and ISAM together with award-winning fixed income manager Jeffrey Gundlach.
Gundlach’s firm, DoubleLine, will act as the sub-adviser for the fixed income portion of the new fund and allocate assets between three portfolios -- core, opportunistic fixed income and short-duration.
Altegris says the fund represents a giant step forward in that the typical managed futures fund allocates a large percentage of its assets to highly liquid, short-term fixed income. Given today’s low interest rate environment, the company believes better returns may be possible with an actively managed fixed income approach that’s combined with a focused managed futures strategy.
The Altegris Futures Evolution Strategy Fund, said Altegris CEO and president Jon Sundt, is “a fixed-income fund with a kicker.”
Altegris says key features of the fund include:
-- Exposure to the potential benefits of managed futures and fixed income.
-- An actively-managed, dynamic portfolio.
-- Daily liquidity.
-- Low minimum investment.
-- No investor financial pre-qualifications.
-- 1099 tax reporting.
-- The availability of individual and institutional share classes.
