Ameriprise adds $294M team

Ameriprise snapped up a team from MML Investors Services that managed $294 million in client assets, the firm said.

The group is the latest to join the IBD, which has been aggressively trying to court new talent. The six-member team, Three Buckets Wealth Management, joins Ameriprise’s independent channel in in Latham, New York.

The team is led by managing partner and financial advisor Ryan Lambert, who previously spent nearly a decade at Ameriprise before moving to MSI Financial Services, which was later acquired by MML Investors Services, according to FINRA BrokerCheck.

The team left just prior to MML Investors Services’ announcement of a plan to significantly increase its presence in its home state of Massachusetts. The firm pledged to add 2,000 jobs in the state by 2021.

Lambert said that Ameriprise’s increased investment and product offerings drew the team to the firm, which was the No. 2 largest IBD by revenue in 2017. In the same year, MML Investors Services was No. 16 by revenue.

"The reason we moved to Ameriprise was to give our clients broader choices of investments and an overall better client experience,” he said, adding, “As a team, we chose Ameriprise because of the technology, support and tools that allow us to serve our clients well.”
