BISA Taps McNeil as Its Public Face

The Bank Insurance and Securities Association named James McNeil, formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer of BAI, a consultant in Chicago, as its new executive director.

In this role, McNeil is based in Washington, D.C. at the offices of SmithBucklin, the association management firm that took over management of BISA in November.

“[McNeil] has established a reputation in financial services as a conceptual and strategic thinker and drove significant growth and diversification that positions him to lead our growing organization,” BISA’s current president and head of Key Investment Services Marc Vosen said in a statement.

Prior to joining BAI, McNeil worked in publishing. He was chief operating officer and group publisher at Times Mirror, and senior vice president of Probus Publishing, according to his LinkedIn page.

Vosen wasn’t available for comment at press time, but in a previous conversation he laid out the skills McNeil presumably exhibited during the recruitment process. “I want someone with an understanding of our industry, who presents him- or herself well and who can be the face of the organization,” Vosen said in a Nov. 15 interview.
