Debralee Nelson joined the firm’s New York Tri-State sales team as a senior sales director, BNY Mellon announced Thursday. She is responsible for business development and identifying opportunities for expanding the firm’s client base in the New York Tri-State market.

At J.P. Morgan Chase, where Nelson served as a managing director and senior banker from 2009 to 2013, she was responsible for relationship management in the private bank. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Nelson was managing director and senior business development officer with Bessemer and U.S. Trust.

The firm is actively hiring in the New York Tri-State region and expects to increase headcount by almost 6% by the end of 2013, Susan Rivers, vice president of Marketing and Corporate Affairs for BNY Mellon, said in an e-mail.
