Dow, Nasdaq Take Flight

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied up 217.97 points to 13,177.68 Tuesday while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 added 56.22 points and 24.86 points, respectively.

In economic news, retails sales rose 1.1% last month, the largest increase in five months thanks mainly to new car sales and higher gas prices. Meanwhile, U.S. inventories rose 0.7%, slightly more than the 0.6% consensus forecast.
