Fidelity to Combine Mid Cap Growth Funds

Fidelity Investments is planning to fold its Fidelity Advisor Stock Selector Mid Cap Fund in the Fidelity Advisor Growth Strategies Fund. Both funds are classified as mid cap growth funds by Morningstar.

The move will be voted on during a special meeting of the shareholders expected to be held during the fourth quarter, according to a regulatory filing. If the plan is approved, the reorganization is expected to take place in mid-December.

The Mid Cap Fund, which has two stars from Morningstar, had been managed by Steve Calhoun, who took the struggling fund over in 2009 according to Morningstar. Calhoun has been replaced by Fidelity's Stock Selector Mid Cap team, each of whom will reportedly manage sector-specific sleeves of the portfolio.
