HighTower recruits $250M Merrill team

A Merrill Lynch team that managed $250 million in client assets left for HighTower. The team is the tenth to join the firm this year, a spokeswoman said.

William Thrush and Meghan Rump lead the team, known as the Thrush Group. They are based in Westport, Connecticut.

Thrush said in a statement that they made the move because of HighTower's platform and resources.

Thrush and Rump had been with Merrill since 2007, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. Prior to that, they worked at UBS where they started their advisory careers.

The team specializes in developing and managing financial strategies for private business owners and their families, according HighTower.

A spokeswoman for Merrill confirmed the team's departure, but declined to comment further.

HighTower last announced new hires in August, when the Chicago-based firm recruited a $500 million team from Morgan Stanley.
