SunTrust Names New Senior Exec at UHNW Unit

SunTrust Bank has named one of its international wealth management executives to the newly created post of regional managing director of GenSpring Family Offices, the bank's ultrahigh-net-worth unit.

Carlos Carreño will serve wealthy families in the Florida East region, including Jupiter, Palm Beach and Miami.  He assumes the new role as the bank looks to expand its business in Florida.

In June, the bank named Jim Brennan managing director of GenSpring's Florida West region, overseeing Orlando, Tampa Bay and Sarasota family offices.

Prior to joining GenSpring, Carreño was a senior vice president and line of business manager for international wealth management at SunTrust Bank. He managed SunTrust teams focused on serving clients and families maintaining a second residency in the United States.

"GenSpring was founded in Florida more than 25 years ago to serve the diverse needs of ultrahigh-net-worth families," GenSpring's CEO Willem Hattink said in a statement. "By concentrating on families in their respective regions, our teams will form even stronger relationships with those we serve."

Carreño will be based in Miami.
