Institutional Money Fund Assets Decline

After a large inflow for the week ended Wednesday, Aug. 15, assets of institutional money market funds decreased by $1.06 billion to $1.686 trillion for the week ending Wednesday, Aug. 22, according to numbers from the Investment Company Institute.

Among institutional funds, taxable government money market fund assets decreased by $13.95 billion to $673.45 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets increased by $13.72 billion to $929.43 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets decreased by $820 million to $83.09 billion, the ICI said.

Assets of retail money market funds increased by $1.12 billion to $887.70 billion, the ICI said.
