Janney Pulls In Morgan Stanley Vet

Janney has added at three-decade industry veteran from Morgan Stanley in its latest move to bring on new advisor talent.

The Philadelphia-based broker-dealer recruited Jonathan Fairbanks, who oversees more than $100 million in assets, to be a first vice president/wealth management in the firm’s West Hartford, Conn., branch.

“Jonathan is a well-respected advisor in the New England area and a significant and valuable addition to the Janney team,” said Jerry Lombard, president of the firm’s Private Client Group. “Throughout his long and accomplished career, Jonathan has built a strong practice by keeping an unwavering focus on meeting his clients’ needs, and I’m pleased that he sees Janney as the ideal firm to enable him to continue delivering top quality service to his clients in the future.”

Before joining Morgan Stanley in 2009, Fairbanks worked at Citigroup, spent 12 years at A.G. Edwards and had 10 years at Kidder, Peabody & Co.

Janney has drawn a number of wirehouse advisors thus far as it looks build out its footprint, particularly in the Southeast, where the firm added a UBS veteran with $180 million in assets in February. Overall the firm has around 730 advisors.
