Fifty-two percent of the 2,063 individuals who sat for the CFP Certification Examination in March passed the exam, the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards said today. Administered at 50 sites nationwide, the exam covers 89 topics that professionals must be familiar with to practice financial planning. Since 1995, when the CFP began administering the exam in a comprehensive format, 80,708 candidates have sat for the exam. The test has a cumulative pass rate of 57%, according to the CFP.
The next certification exam will be held July 17 and July 18 this year. Potential candidates must qualify by meeting the CFP Board’s education coursework requirement and complete the application by June 3, 2009, the CFP said.
