McNeil Leaves BISA, Association Looks for New Head

Jim McNeil, executive director of Bank Insurance & Securities Association, is leaving the group he headed for the past three years. Dan Overbey, president of the association, and Sam Guerrieri, past president, announced that they are seeking a new executive director.

McNeil, who started at BISA in January 2011, will be taking a new leadership role at Information Inc., another group within SmithBucklin Corp., which is also BISA’s association management company. SmithBucklin acquired Information Inc., a content and news company that serves other associations, government agencies and corporations, in September 2011.

McNeil said he feels like his career has come “full circle” since the early part of his professional life was in publishing, including a stint as chief operating officer and group publisher at Times Mirror in the 1990s. Then he moved to financial association BAI where he became familiar with Information Inc.'s services.

McNeil will participate in BISA’s search for his replacement and will remain dedicated to his role as executive director until the transition is complete, according to the association’s announcement.

“We’re excited for Jim and look forward to working closely with him in the coming months to ensure a smooth leadership transition,” Overbey said in the release. “The change comes at a time of great strength and stability for BISA, and we’re confident that we’ll find a leader who can build on the momentum that Jim’s direction has provided.” BISA expects to have a new executive director in place by the fall.
