Money Funds Top $2.6 Trillion

Total money market mutual fund assets increased by $2.61 billion to $2.631 trillion for the week ended Wednesday, April 3, according to theInvestment Company Institute.

Assets of retail money market funds decreased by $1.17 billion to $908.63 billion. Taxable government money market fund assets in the retail category decreased by $550 million to $194.21 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $750 million to $519.13 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets increased by $120 million to $195.30 billion.

Institutional money market funds increased their assets by $3.79 billion to $1.723 trillion. Among institutional funds, taxable government money market fund assets decreased by $1.70 billion to $704.40 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets increased by $5.15 billion to $938.71 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets increased by $340 million to $79.63 billion.
