Genworth Names President of Asset Management Arm

Genworth Financial Wealth Management, a unit of Genworth Financial, hired Daniel Courtney to the position of president of the asset management division.

In the newly created role, Courtney will manage the unit’s growth strategy, including product development and target markets. He will also lead efforts to support training and education of financial advisors about the benefits and characteristics of the investment solutions offered by Genworth Financial Assset Management on the Genworth Wealth Management platform.

Courtney will report to Mike Abelson, the senior vice president of Genworth Financial Wealth Management’s investments and product development, and will work closely with Tim Knepp, the chief investment officer of Genworth Financial Asset Management.

Genworth Financial Wealth, which has $20 billion of assets on its platform, provides independent financial advisors with investment management products and services. The unit works with more than 6,000 advisors nationally.

Courtney, who has more than 15 years of experience in sales and marketing with investment management and intermediary firms, has worked at Resource America in Philadelphia for the past seven years, where he managed sales of sales of specialized products and oversaw product development, sales, service, business development and marketing.
