Women Advisors Forum Reaches 1,000 Members

The Women Advisors Forum, an online social network for female financial advisors, ushered in its 1000th member when Jennifer Riek joined the community Monday.

Launched in 2011, the Women Advisors Forum website provides an exclusive community where female advisors can network, blog and share their thoughts on the industry. It also allows women advisors to tap into what is happening at the Women Advisors Forum conference series, which has toured the country for a total of six events this year.

Riek, a financial advisor and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst at Marcum Financial Services is affiliated to the broker-dealer Raymond James.

She has more than 10 years experience working in the financial and insurance industries and focuses on financial planning, business development and client relationships.

“I look to broaden my skills, gain exposure and support in term of literature, webinars and mentoring,” she said.

Women’s Advisors Forum is offering Riek free registration to any WAF conference in 2013 on her being the 1000th member.

The next WAF event is this Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Island Hotel Newport Beach in Newport Beach, Calif. The event will feature a presentation by Julie Murphy Casserly, CLU, ChFC, MBA, CFP, and President of JMC Wealth Management, titled the “Emotion Behind Money” and another by Luz Padilla, Portfolio Manager, Emerging Markets, at DoubleLine, titled “Emerging Market Fund Update.” Both sessions offer CE credits.  In addition, Denise Morrison, Chief Compliance Office at Securities America, Darla Sipolt, regional director of institutional sales at TD Ameritrade, and other wealth management experts will be offering insights and practical advice.

Four other events this year took place in Boca Raton, Fla., New York, Dallas and Chicago.

“We strive to create a community atmosphere at our events where women can network and share their professional experiences,” said Lorie Konish, who serves as community editor of the social network. “The Women Advisors Forum website is designed to extend that experience for our event attendees, and to continue to build a network with even more women advisors.”

Riek said that she was drawn to the Women’s Advisor Forum site because she saw it as great way to brainstorm ideas and to discover new ways to manage her business. As a divorce financial analyst, Riek has had predominantly a female clientele and believes the Women Advisor Forum community will provide information from trusted peers that she can put to use to expand her services.
