BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hires Three in U.S. and Canada

BNY Mellon Wealth Management continues its steady drumbeat of new hires.

The wealth manager appointed an executive to lead business development efforts in Toronto. Trevor Hunt, previously with Stanhope Capital LLP in London, is the first and only person to fill that role in Canada. Hunt was named vice president for business development for BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Advisory Services, the renamed i3WealthAdvisors, which BNY Mellon acquired in 2010.

Hunt’s appointment is the second appointment outside the U.S. in the last month. In November, the firm hired a senior relationship manager to lead business development efforts in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, the first such appointment in the region.

The firm also hired a senior director for business development in Madison, N.J. Drew Maldonado works as a sales director principally in northern New Jersey. He was previously a managing director at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management where he ran the equities business.

In Pittsburgh, the firm hired a wealth strategist. Kathleen Stewart works with high-net-worth individuals and families primarily in western Pennsylvania and supports the firm’s offices in Cleveland and Chicago. She was formerly vice president for fiduciary research with fi360 where she designed fiduciary training programs and provided research and support on fiduciary matters to professionals with the accredited investment fiduciary designation.

The new hires are part of the wealth manager’s campaign to increase its sales force by 50% and add private and mortgage bankers and other professionals in key wealth markets by the end of 2014. The firm expects to have 32 net new sales hires by year-end with 18 more to come next year, BNY Mellon said.
