City National Bank Staffs Up in California

City National Bank hired five wealth managment pros in its private client group in California’s central coast region.

Leo Hamill joined Los Angeles-based City National to serve clients in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. He’ll be senior vice president and regional manager and has more than two decades of senior-level wealth management experience, according to a press release from the bank. Also joining City National are private bankers Annamarie Cole and Roy Martinez as well as Amber Ortiz, a private client advisor, and Susan Rogers, a trust advisor.

The Private Client group serves high-net-worth families, professional service firms and nonprofit organizations, providing investment management, cash management, estate planning and trust services. The new hires will be located in City National's Oxnard office.

"We are pleased to continue expanding to serve this dynamic and growing California region," Michael Pagano, executive vice president of Private Client Services, said in the press release. "We know these colleagues will deliver exceptional experience and depth of expertise to the Central Coast for all of our existing and new clients."

City National's wealth management business has been a big contributor to the bank’s growth. In its first quarter earnings report, it said that trust and investment fees grew to $53.3 million, up 14% from the year-ago period. All told, wealth management oversees $66 billion in AUM, up 11% year-over-year, and more than double the $30 billion in bank assets.
