Putnam Launches Roth IRA Center for Advisers

Putnam Investments has launched a content-rich Roth IRA Conversion Resource Center, Putnam.com/roth2010, aimed a financial advisers.

The resource center offers a full range of information about traditional IRA conversions, how to evaluate whether they make sense and what investors should consider before converting, plus talking points an adviser can take their clients through in helping them make this decision. It also includes an IRA conversion calculator that weighs investor’s taxes, age, legacy wishes and other factors.

“With all investors becoming eligible to convert to Roth IRAs [as of Jan. 1], $2 trillion in traditional IRA assets held by higher-income investors will qualify for conversion,” noted William Cass, Putnam senior vice president and retirement products marketing manager. “While Roth IRAs make sense for many of these investors, a thorough review of their overall financial assets and goals is critical.”

He noted that a recent informational call that Putnam held on the subject of Roth IRA conversions attracted more than 1,000 participants.
