RBC Grabs $2.3M Team From Stifel

A pair of $2.3 million producers left Stifel to join RBC, according to the firm.

Michael Starr and Daniel Starr, both brothers, will join RBC’s midtown office in New York, where they will report to complex director John Moran. The will operate as The Starr Group, RBC said.

“RBC Wealth Management is actively recruiting high-level financial advisors across the country that fit in with the firm’s client-centric culture,” Moran says.

The advisor team will be joined by client associates Denise Hickey and Aspasia Machairas.

The brothers joined Stifel in 2007 from Ryan Beck, a New Jersey-based broker that was acquired by Stifel in the same year, according to their BrokerCheck records.

RBC also recently grabbed teams with combined assets of over $1.3 billion from Merrill Lynch, plus a $160M advisor from J.P. Morgan.

Meanwhile, Stifel added a $285 million team from Janney Montgomery Scott. The firm has been in the midst of a major expansion, primarily through the acquisition of Stern Agee for $150 million, and an impending deal to pick up the U.S. wealth unit at Barclays.
