Google Hires Morgan Stanley’s Porat to Succeed Pichette as CFO

Google Inc. said it hired Ruth Porat, Morgan Stanley’s chief financial officer, to succeed Patrick Pichette as its new CFO in May.

Porat, 57, will leave Morgan Stanley in April after 28 years at the firm, according to a memo the New York-based company sent its employees Tuesday. Jonathan Pruzan, co-head of global financial institutions banking, will become Morgan Stanley’s new CFO.

Google said earlier this month that Pichette, 51, who joined in 2008, is retiring and would remain at the world's biggest search engine to assist with a transition. Porat, who has served as Morgan Stanley's CFO since 2010, is one of Wall Street's most senior female executives.

"I’m delighted to be returning to my California roots and joining Google," Porat said in a statement released by Mountain View, Calif.-based Google. "Growing up in Silicon Valley, during my time at Morgan Stanley and as a member of Stanford’s Board, I've had the opportunity to experience first hand how tech companies can help people in their daily lives. I can't wait to roll up my sleeves and get started."
