Stifel Lands Morgan Stanley Advisor, Opens New Office

Stifel Nicolaus snared a veteran Morgan Stanley advisor with more than $180 million in assets under management, and announced the opening of a new client office in West Chester, Pa.

James Stambaugh will join the regional broker-dealer as a senior vice president of investments and portfolio manager of its Solutions Program in Stifel’s new private client group office in downtown West Chester.

Stambaugh also spent time at Janney Montgomery Scott and Merrill Lynch during his career.

“Jim Stambaugh is a consummate professional and the perfect candidate to help us build on our ongoing expansion efforts in Southeast Pennsylvania,” Michael Sullivan, managing director and Eastern Region director, said in a statement.

Stambaugh’s hire is Stifel Nicolaus’ first since the summer. In August, the firm lured away an advisor managing more than $170 million in assets from Baird. In June, a team managing more than $170 million in client assets left UBS to join Stifel, and three former Raymond James advisors managing a combined $490 million in assets moved to Stifel’s office in Atlanta.
