Silda Wall Spitzer, the wife of former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, has joined New York-based hedge fund Metropolitan Capital Advisors, the firm confirmed to IDD. "Yes, she is [joining] and we are thrilled to have her," said a spokeswoman at the firm.
Spitzer formally started at MCA in October.
Metropolitan Capital Advisors, founded by Karen Finerman in 1992, had $151 million under management as of Sept. 30, according to an SEC filing. Four of the five investment managers at Metropolitan Capital are women.
Silda Wall Spitzer Spitzer will focus on attracting new investors to the fund, in addition to weighing in on investment strategies. In her last executive role, Spitzer, who obtained her law degree at Harvard Law School, served as part of the International Legal Group for the former Chase Manhattan Bank before leaving to raise a family.
She began her career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where she specialized in M&A and corporate finance. In 1996, Spitzer launched the Children for Children Foundation, a charity focused on improving the lives of New York City children.
