State Street Launches 12 Exchange-Traded Funds in Switzerland

The SIX Swiss Exchange has begun trading in 12 exchange-traded funds created by State Street Global Advisors.

The European exchange operator said State Street Global Advisors is a new issuer for the Exchange Traded Funds segment of its securities markets.

State Street has created 12 SPDR ETFs that in this case are based on European regional and sector indices. State Street Global Advisors is expected to add more funds in the future, SIX Swiss said.

SIX Swiss Exchange's ETF segment now includes 675 ETFs, of which 108 are listed in more than one currency.

State Street Global Advisors launched its first ETF in 1993 and is considered a pioneer of the industry. State Street managed global ETF assets of $2.5 trillion, at the end of 2010.
