Stocks Slide in Late Trading

The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 43.90 points to finish at 13,197.73 Tuesday with most of the losses coming in the last couple hours of trading.

The Nasdaq lost 2.22 points to close at 3,120.35 and the S&P 50 gave back 4 points to end at 1,412.52.

In economic news, the Conference Board reported that consumer confidence fell slightly to 70.2 in March from an upwardly revised score of 71.6 in February.

Also, single-family home prices were flat in January, according to the Case-Shiller home price index. On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, prices fell 0.8%.

·                     Today's bottom five laggards: CVX (-6.05), CAT (-5.22), VZ (-5.07), IBM (-4.47), AXP (-3.33).

·                     DJIA crossed zero 71 times during today's trading session.

·                     Today's closing value is the 5th highest so far this year.

·                     Down 6.83% from its record close of 14164.53 on October 09, 2007.

·                     Up 7.48% from 52 weeks ago.

·                     Up 6.78% from its 2012 closing low of 12359.92 on January 06, 2012.

·                     Down 0.42% from its 52-week high of 13252.76 on March 15, 2012.

·                     Up 23.86% from its 52-week low of 10655.30 on October 03, 2011.

·                     Up 101.58% from its 12-year closing low of 6547.05 on March 9, 2009.

·                     Month-to-date: up 1.90%.

·                     Year-to-date: up 8.02%.
