Wall Street Wraps Up Solid Week; Irene Looms

The Dow Jones Industrial average rallied up another 135 points, or 1.2%, to close at 11,284.54 Friday, closing out a week that saw gold prices swoon and some semblance of investor confidence restored.

The Nasdaq composite stormed up 60 points to finish at 2,479.85 while the S&P 500 rose 17.53 points to 1,176.80. The gains come ahead of what could be a complicated and messy week with Hurricane Irene closing in on the East Coast.

Dow Jones Industrial average:

·         Up 466.89 points this week, or 4.32%, to 11284.54

·         This week’s gain snaps a four-week losing streak.

·         Best week since the week period ending, July 01, 2011.

·         Today: DJIA, up 134.72 points, or 1.21%.

·         Up four of the past five trading days.
