Amy has hit the nail on the head. The principal reason for women not making it big or not sticking around in .financial careers is that finance is a 24/7 job. If you take time off for whatever reason or rather if you do not allow your career to run your whole life, you will find you have missed a major deal, a major tip, a breaking news. When you are as good as the next guy, it hurts. Secondly, it is a boys only club. They can pat themselves on the back after a deal, go out together and get drunk but the woman would have other priorities to attend to.

Amy has hit the nail on the head. Finance is a 24/7 job. If you don't breathe, eat, live, sleep finance, you will find that you have missed the bus. The bigger deal, the bigger client, the breaking news is being scooped by someone else when you were busy dropping your kids to school or carpooling. Can you really drop everything at the drop of the hat and fly to attend to a client, can you concentrate when you have been up the whole of the previous night.

You have your reasons for women not opting for careers in finance.
