Rourke O'Brien

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Rourke O�Brien is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University where his research focuses on consumer finance, taxation and population health. He is coauthor (with Katherine S. Newman) of Taxing the Poor (2011 UC Press) and his popular writing has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Washington Post. Rourke previously served as a Senior Policy Advisor for Consumer Policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and as a Research Fellow at the New America Foundation. He received his B.A. from Harvard University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University.
