Scott Smith

Scott is the head of Cain Brothers’ Capital Markets Group and is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.  Scott is also the President of Cain Brothers Asset Management, LLC an affiliated institutional investment advisory firm. He joined Cain Brothers in 1998 to run the Special Products Group, after holding a similar position at Ziegler Securities for six years. His banking focus is providing interest rate management products and solution-oriented reinvestment vehicles for the firm's clients. Under Scott’s leadership, the Special Products Group pioneered the use of several unique transaction structures including Tender Option Bond Debt Restructurings, Non-rated Synthetic Variable Rate Debt, CPI-Linked Notes, and Call Option Monetizations. He has successfully engineered over 1,500 interest rate management and reinvestment transactions totaling over $35 billion in notional amount.  Scott and his team developed an industry leading online financial risk management system (CB FiRM) to allow clients to monitor and administer their interest rate swap portfolios.Scott grew up in Columbus, Indiana. He received a BS with distinction from Indiana University.  Scott resides in Sarasota, FL
