David Canter
David Canter is executive vice president and head of the registered investment advisor (RIA) segment for Fidelity Clearing & Custody Solutions, the business that offers brokerage, investment and reporting services, trading capabilities and practice management and consulting to RIAs, retirement recordkeepers, broker-dealer firms, banks, and family offices. In this role, David serves as a steward of change to help RIAs succeed in a rapidly evolving wealth management landscape.

David has held leadership roles in financial services for 25 years. Previously at Fidelity, David served as executive vice president of Practice Management and Consulting as well as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services. Prior to Fidelity, David held roles in legal and compliance at the Post Advisory Group, Charles Schwab, the Quellos Group and the New York Stock Exchange.

David received his bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin in 1990 and his juris doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1993. He currently holds his FINRA Series 24 license and is a member of the State Bar of California. David lives in the Boston area with his wife and two children, and enjoys running and playing the guitar.
