Advisers with $200M in combined AUM join Steward Partners

Advisers who oversaw $200 million in combined client assets have joined Steward Partners, the independent firm affiliated with Raymond James said.

Alexandra Koch and Brandon Haase joined Steward’s offices in New York state, according to a released statement. Koch will be working from the firm's Manhattan location while Hasse is stationed in Albany.

Koch, who has 22 years of experience in wealth management, last worked for Morgan Stanley, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. She had been with the wirehouse and its predecessor firm, Smith Barney, since 2000 and began her career at Merrill Lynch in 1994.

Haase was last with RBC, where he had worked for seven years, according to BrokerCheck. He started his wealth management career at Smith Barney in 2005, BrokerCheck records show.

Koch said in a statement that she wasn’t interested in leaving Morgan Stanley when she was first introduced to Steward Partners. “But when I saw first-hand how they treated wealth managers as partners and owners in the organization, it warranted a closer look,” she said in the released statement.

A spokesman for Morgan Stanley confirmed Koch's departure with no further comment.

An RBC spokeswoman could not be reached for immediate comment.

Steward Partners, a Washington-based firm founded in 2013, recently picked up several wirehouse recruits.

In December, the firm hired an adviser with 38 years of experience from Morgan Stanley. It also picked up a team of advisors from Wells Fargo and Edward Jones with $500 million in client assets in November.
