CFP Board aims to 'demystify' the exam

In an attempt to make the CFP Exam slightly less daunting for test takers, the CFP Board is offering a new prep course designed to help them prepare for and navigate the test.

CFP candidates helped the board design the new three-section course, called the Candidate Preparation Toolkit.

The first section shows students the benefits of attaining a CFP designation, while the second breaks down how students can work with their employers to prepare for the exam. The third section explains more about the test and offers studying strategies to make it less intimidating.

“Some candidates go into the process unaware of the resources available to them, or they feel undue anxiety about the challenge of achieving CFP certification," says John Loper, the CFP Board's managing director of professional practice. "This toolkit demystifies the exam.”

Registration for the next CFP Exam, to be held in November, is now open, with an education verification deadline of Oct. 11 and a registration deadline of Oct. 24.
