Clapp Accepts Sales Post With Fred Alger Mgmt.

Elizabeth Clapp has joined Fred Alger Management as senior vice president, national sales manager, overseeing the financial adviser and broker channels. She comes to the firm from Evergreen Investments, where she was managing director, head of national accounts.

With more than 20 years of experience, Clapp has held senior positions with a number of leading firms, including DWS Scudder and Columbia Funds Distributor.

Alger CEO and Chief Investment Officer Dan Cheung said: "We are pleased to add an individual with Liz's background and experience to our organization."

Seasoned Veteran Flaherty Joins Natixis Global Assoc.

Tracey Flaherty is now with Natixis Global Associates as senior vice president, retirement strategy, reporting to Sharon Wratchford, executive vice president, global distribution administration and operations.

The investment firm, intent on expanding its retirement business, selected Flaherty, a seasoned veteran, for the position because "she's uniquely positioned to guide our business to the next stage, building upon the strength of our diverse investment offerings through our multi-boutique structure and in-house capabilities, such as overlay management," said David Giunta, president and CEO of Natixis.

Flaherty spent the majority of her career, 18 years, with Fidelity Investments, most recently as executive vice president in the 401(k) rollover and employee stock plan division. She also held various marketing and product responsibilities across Fidelity's retail and institutional mutual fund divisions. Most recently, Flaherty was a marketing executive for Bank of America's premier and small business division and served as managing director, consumer products at FleetBoston Financial.

Tremont Names Metchick Chief Investment Officer

Tremont Capital Management, a leading provider of hedge funds-of-funds, has recruited Scott Metchick as chief investment officer. With more than 20 years of experience in the hedge fund industry, Metchick has a solid performance record and experience overseeing a global investment team.

"Investment excellence is core to our strategy of establishing a scalable, institutional standard multimanager fund-of-funds business," said Rupert Allan, Tremont president and chief executive officer.

Metchick comes to the company from EIM, another hedge funds-of-funds investment manager. He also worked for Twin Lights and spent 10 years at EACM, an affiliate of consultancy Evaluation Associates, where he developed analytical tools and due-diligence best practices for the hedge fund practice.

"The role of the fund-of-hedge funds is even more important for investors in today's market, which makes Tremont's over 20 years of experience and dedication to excellence critical factors in delivering the products and performance that our clients need and deserve," Metchick said. "I'm excited to join the firm and look forward to all that's ahead of us."

Metchick's hire as CIO, replacing Cynthia Nicoll who left Tremont for personal reasons, is the most recent in a succession of senior appointments in the investment team including Andrew Kaneb, former head of global equities at Lighthouse Partners, and James Purnell, who came from the structured product group at Dresdner Bank to lead the risk management group at Tremont.
