Confluence Hires Product Manager

Automated data management provider Confluence hired Melvin Jayawardana as European Fund Administration Product Manager.

Based in the Confluence International office in Luxembourg, Jayawardana will help customers strategically expand their use of the Unity platform for data consolidation and automation. He is also responsible for expanding Confluence's global market penetration through new product innovation to European fund administrators.

Jayawardana previously worked at J.P. Morgan Bank where, as senior vice president and product manager for mutual fund accounting, he launched new products and expanded EMEA regulatory reporting services for the company.

Dolan to Head kasina's Sales Force

Strategy consultant kasina has hired Joseph "Joe" Dolan as its Director of Sales.

Dolan will head the sales operation for kasina's U.S. based business, and support the distribution of its consulting, research and benchmarking services.

Previously, Dolan worked for 14-years with Legg Mason, where he was the Eastern Divisional Sales Manager, directing the expansion of Legg's Mason sales into the independent broker dealer and RIA Channels. Before that, he was a wholesaler for the Northeast at Kemper Unit Investment Trusts for two years.

Ex-CFTC Member to Head U.S. Swap Data Repository

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation has appointed former Commodity Futures Trading Commissioner Michael Dunn as the non-executive chairman of the company's U.S. Swap Data Repository, effective May 12.

Dunn will report to DTCC president and chief executive-elect Michael Bodson, recently named to succeed Donald Donahue in July.

The DTCC says that Dunn will play an instrumental role in the development of its U.S. SDR, ensuring open lines of communication with its clients, regulators and industry partners.

His responsibilities will include developing procedures and policies to ensure that the U.S. SDR is fully and effectively compliant with both the spirit and the letter of existing regulation. Further, he will work with global regulators to harmonize the various international reporting constituencies.

An Oakmark PM Retires

Henry Berghoef is stepping down as co-manager of the Oakmark Select Fund (OAKLX) and will retire from Harris Associates L.P., the fund's advisor, effective July 31.

William Nygren will continue as portfolio manager of Oakmark Select. A co-manager for the Oakmark Select Fund is expected to be named within the next year, according to the firm. Other members of the Harris Associates team of investment analysts will assume Berghoef's research responsibilities.

Berghoef joined Harris Associates as an investment analyst in 1994 and was director of U.S. research from 2003 to 2011. He has co-managed Oakmark Select since 2000. "I thank my colleagues and will miss them, but have every confidence the firm's great value tradition and service to our clients will continue," stated Berghoef.

The Oakmark Funds managed $42 billion in assets as of March 31.

Janus Ramps Up Client Relations Team

Denver-based Janus Capital Group Inc. has made two senior-level hires to beef up its client relations team.

Andrew B. Weisman has been appointed senior vice president, leading the development of JCG's alternative and multi-asset client solutions, reporting to CEO Richard M. Weil.

Soonyong ("Suny") Park has also joined the firm as an institutional client strategist, reporting to Susan Oh, Head of the U.S. Institutional Group. Both roles are new to the firm.

Prior to joining JCG, Weisman was a partner at WR Platform Advisors, Inc., a technology platform and service provider of managed accounts, risk analytics, and investor reporting for hedge funds. Previously, he served as chief portfolio manager for Merrill Lynch's Hedge Fund Development unit.

Park most recently served as co-Head of Research at consulting shop Rogerscasey, where he led institutional thought leadership on topics such as strategic and tactical asset allocation, plan structure, governance policies, and manager research.

Janus managed $164 billion as of the end of March 2012.

Emerald Unearths Product Chief

Lancaster, P.A.-based Emerald Asset Management, Inc. has added Joseph Witthohn, as vice president for Product Development and ETF Strategies, responsible for expanding the firm's investment products.

Witthohn is based in Emerald's new global headquarters in Leola, PA. He formerly was part of the Investment Strategy Group for Janney Montgomery Scott.

"Emerald is working to expand its strong product line-up with the addition of talented professionals," stated Emerald's founder Joseph Besecker.
