DTCC Names Lewis New Marketing Director

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corp., also known as DTCC, has hired Joan J. Lewis as its managing director of marketing.

In the newly created position, Lewis will help the firm assess markets and competitive forces, as well as identify new sources of revenue. She will also be charged with helping the firm expand its product lines it offers to the financial services industry.

Lewis was most recently the managing director of marketing and communications for the securities service division at Merrill Lynch. Prior to that she served as an SVP, marketing and communications at Standard & Poor's and director of interactive marketing services at American Express.

Federated Taps Landesman As New Global Equity Research Director

Federated Investors tabbed a new director of global equity research by promoting Uri D. Landesman to head up both the foreign and domestic divisions. In addition, the company announced that Curtis R. Gross and David R. Powers would become associate directors. Landesman replaces Christopher Corapi, who quit recently for personal reasons.

Landesman has been at Federated since February 2003 as a senior portfolio manager, and will continue to head up the firm's international equity fund while serving in his new position. He has managed portfolios and equity research for 18 years at places such as J.P. Morgan and Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.

The associate director positions for Gross and Powers are newly created. Gross, who will continue covering the healthcare services and device sectors for the company, and Powers, who will continue to specialize in the energy sector, will work out of the Pittsburgh Federated research office and report to Landesman.

The company also announced that Japan-based analyst Masa Mitsui has joined as a senior investment analyst. He will cover Japanese stock positions for Federated.

Rydex Hires Mancini To Grow Intermediary Efforts

Rydex has hired mutual fund and VA industry veteran Jane M. Mancini as its new EVP, Sales and Marketing, to focus on building the firm's financial intermediary business, which includes B/Ds, RIAs and variable annuity channels. She will report directly to Carl Verboncoeur, the firm's CEO.

Mancini is the chairman of the National Association of Variable Annuities, known as NAVA, and also a member of the editorial board of Annuity Market News, sister publication to MME. Most recently, Mancini worked at Putnam Investments as a managing director and head of its $40 billion insurance unit. Prior to that she was president of SunLife Distributors.

PFPC Hires Mahoney to Expand External Wholesaling

Citing a need for more experienced personnel to help deal with third party distribution, PFPC Distributors hired Timothy Mahoney as both a registered representative and SVP/senior managing director of its third party distribution. Mahoney's main job at PFPC Distributors, the subsidiary of PFPC Inc., will be to help in the expansion of external wholesaling and ultimately help clients alter business strategies and gain more assets under management.
