New York Life Names Four New Vice Presidents
New York Life Investment Management has tabbed four new regional vice presidents, including a former Putnam manager, to help promote the firm's investment products.
Cheryl Potter, formerly a regional marketing director for Putnam, Nancy Lavin, who most recently served as regional vice president of sales for Touchstone Investments, Frances Rogell, an Eaton Vance vice president, and former BlackRock Vice President Matthew Silver will, in the company's words, "target key regions where the growth opportunities for NYLIM's retail investments are the greatest."
Potter will oversee the company's eastern Florida region, with Lavin handling Connecticut, Rhode Island and upstate New York. Rogell will take care of western Florida, and Silver, a Long Island, N.Y., native, will deal with wirehouses in Long Island, Queens and Brooklyn.
Salvatore M. Capizzi, NYLIM's managing director, said that all four have "stellar backgrounds."
Sustainable Growth Hires Lee as Research Analyst
Sustainable Growth Advisers announced the hiring of Alexandra Lee, a medical doctor and most recently an associate equity director and equity analyst at Bear Stearns, as a research analyst and member of the company's investment committee.
Lee, who possesses both an MD from Korea's Yonsei University and an MBA from Cambridge's Harvard Business School, worked as a doctor in Korea before switching careers into the financial services industry.
Said Robert Rohn, the principal and also a portfolio manager at SGA, "[Lee's] background as a medical doctor has already enhanced our understanding of the sustainable growth opportunities of healthcare, and her analytical abilities honed on Wall Street reinforce our fundamental research discipline."
DuPont Capital Taps Sill As President, CEO
Valerie J. Sill, an 18-year investment industry veteran, was hired by DuPont Capital Management as president and CEO, replacing Edward J. Basset, who retired last year.
Sill most recently served as executive vice president and director of large cap equities at The Boston Company, where she doubled as the chair of both the Equity Policy Group and the Mellon Investment Research Forum, not to mention manager of the Dreyfus Premier Core Value Fund. Her career began as a healthcare and utilities analyst at State Street.
Gary M. Pfeiffer, senior vice president, chief financial officer of parent company DuPont and the man Sill will report to, said she was appointed because she was "superbly qualified."
Oregon Bond Fund Tabs Jensen as a Trustee
The municipal bond fund Tax-Free Trust of Oregon has named 25-year banking industry guru and current Phoenix Technologies and BMG Seltec board director Edmund P. Jensen as a trustee.
The trust, held by the Aquila Group of Funds, is one of seven municipal bond funds provided by Aquila.
Jensen was president and CEO of Visa International from 1994 to 1999, and he has also held high-level positions at Portland-based U.S. Bancorp.
