Executive Moves

Morningstar's Rekenthaler, Reinkemeyer in New Jobs

Mutual fund research firm Morningstar has tweaked its management team, naming John Rekenthaler as vice president of new product development and Patrick Reinkemeyer as president of the investment advisory firm Morningstar Associates, a subsidiary. The moves were part of a restructuring.

Rekenthaler most recently served as Morningstar Associates' president and head of retirement advice, and Reinkemeyer as president of the company's institutional investment consulting firm.

Under the new setup, Reinkemeyer will be in charge of a now recombined retirement advice/institutional consulting business, while Rekenthaler will concentrate on new product development worldwide.

Rekenthaler joined Morningstar in 1988, and once served as its director of research. In fact, he helped develop the firm's well-known rating system for mutual funds.

Reinkemeyer will still report to company COO Tao Huang, while Rekenthaler will report to Joe Mansueto, Morningstar's chairman and CEO.

"There are many synergies between these two areas of our business, and bringing our resources together will further strengthen our capabilities," Mansueto said.
