Banc of America Securities Appoints Ann Short COO
Banc of America Securities has appointed Ann Short to chief operating officer for its New York-based Global Investment Banking unit.
Short will report to Brian Brille, head of Global Investment Banking, and will be responsible for business and resource planning, budgeting and other general management activities.
Prior to joining BoA, Short served as vice president of Compliance Information Services at the NASD. Prior to joining the regulator, she was COO of the North American Investment Banking division of Dresdner Kleiwort Wasserstein.
Short has also worked intensely in the domestic and international capital markets. She spent three years at the Hong Kong office of Morgan Stanley, where she took part in aiding with the growth of the firm's Asian operations.
Short has a master's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management and a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College.
Fidelity Shuffles Leadership On Key International Funds
Fidelity Investments has named Richard R. Mace Jr. portfolio manager of the Fidelity Aggressive International Fund, Fidelity Advisor International Capital Appreciation Fund and the Fidelity VIP International Capital Appreciation Portfolio.
Mace, who with Kevin McCarey, will continue as portfolio manager for the Fidelity Overseas Fund, Fidelity VIP Overseas Portfolio, Fidelity Worldwide Fund and Fidelity Global Balanced Fund.
Graeme Rockett will succeed Mace as manager of the Fidelity Advisor Overseas Fund. Rockett has served as Mace's assistant for that fund since 2004.
Rockett joined Boston-based Fidelity in 1987 as a research intern. Prior to that, he worked with private equity and structured finance transaction for BOE Corporate and Merchant Bank based in South Africa.
Financial Services Veterans Join PowerShares Capital
In an effort to strengthen its senior leadership team, PowerShares Capital Management, an institutional manager, has hired Benjamin Fulton and Edward McRedmond.
As senior vice president of product development at PowerShares, Fulton boasts more than 20 years of investment management experience, most recently as co-founder and president of Claymore Securities. Prior to Claymore, Fulton was employed at Chicago-based Nuveen Investments. He was also senior vice president of product development at First Trust Portfolios.
McRedmond comes to PowerShares after 17 years at A.G. Edwards, where he held an associate vice president position. He also served as a senior analyst and covered exchange-traded funds and closed-end funds. Prior to joining A.G. Edwards, McRedmond was a supervisor at Charles Schwab's Active Trader Group. McRedmond has 22 years of financial industry experience.
