Ibbotson Boosts Five to VP

Ibbotson Associates has promoted five executives to vice president: Matthew Burki, James Gentleman, Christopher Hood, Lorie Latham and Scott Wentsel.

Burki is now in charge of managing the firm's marketing group. Prior to his joining Ibbotson in 1999, he was a marketing manager at Cova Life Insurance Co.

Gentleman now heads up a team of regional sales managers. He also joined Ibbotson in 1999, previously working in sales at LaSalle Bank.

Hood, who joined Ibbotson in 2000 from Chicago Investment Analytics, where he worked as a regional sales manager, has many years of experience in the software industry. He is now in charge of key accounts.

Latham is now vice president of Ibbotson's Investment Management Services. She has been a key component of the growth and development of Ibbotson's retirement consulting practice.

Wentsel has more than 20 years of experience in the investment industry. His promotion is within the company's traditional and hedge fund-of-fund investment manager groups. Before he joined Ibbotson he was employed at Morgan Stanley as executive director.

Reserve Looks to Expand Sales With 3 New Positions

The Reserve Funds has hired two senior executives on its banking sales team, in an effort to expand. Also, Steve Genereau has been promoted to manager of banking services, a position created especially for him, in an effort to capitalize on the potential growth of this group.

Kenneth E. Meyers has been appointed vice president and regional consultant and is now responsible for supporting and creating relationships in order to increase the use of the firm's banking investment solutions.

Kevin May has been appointed business strategy consultant, in charge of heading and supporting the bank sales team. He will also act as a liaison between current clients and the firm.

"We are strategically assembling a robust team to tackle this rapidly growing portion of our business," said Bruce Bent II, president of the firm.

"Ken and Kevin have solid hands-on experience in this arena, and they will be instrumental as we continue to provide innovative, practical and customized solutions to the banking industry nationwide," Bent added.

Prior to his hire, Meyers was senior director and client manager at Profit Technologies Corp. May was most recently employed at PrimeVest Financial Services as a cash management specialist.

Wennerholm Now CCO At Mellon Financial Corp.

Mellon Financial Corp. has announced the hiring of Scott Wennerholm as chief compliance officer for Mellon Institutional Asset Management (MIAM).

Wennerholm's responsibilities include supervision of MIAM's strategy and business planning, technology, compliance and risk management functions. He replaces Patrick Sheppard, who was promoted to president and COO of The Boston Company Asset Management, in May. Wennerholm reports directly to Ronald P. O'Hanley, vice chairman of Mellon and president of MIAM. Prior to his hire, Wennerholm was COO at CDS IXIS Asset Management.

"Scott possesses deep working knowledge of the factors that drive success in the investment management industry, from competitive positioning to operating models to distribution channels," O'Hanley said.
